    GOVERNMENT REGULATION POLICY

    Regulations are supposed to protect consumers, but all too often, special interest and their lobbyist pressure legislators to pass regulations that are not for consumer protection, but rather to prevent competition from small businesses. These regulations reduce competition, suppress innovation, and hurts consumers by paying higher prices due to the cost of compliance with the regulations.

    RLCFL Legislative Goals

    We support free-market solutions to increase health care access and lower health care costs for consumers.

    We support the reform of Florida’s occupational licensing requirements.

    We support reform of Florida’s three-tier system of regulation over the production, distribution, and sale of alcoholic beverages.

    The right to keep and bear arms is a natural God-given right and is protected by Article 1, Section 8 of the Florida Constitution, which embraces the 2nd Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. This right is the bulwark of liberty which empowers the individual in the protection of his or her other natural rights. We oppose any legislation which would infringe on this right.

    RLCFL Legislative Goals

    Repeal state-mandated “gun-free zones” such as airports and college campuses. Gun-free zones are an open invitation to criminals that know law-abiding citizens are not armed and unable to defend themselves. Individuals should always be able to defend themselves in private, public, and government facilities.

    We opposed SB 7026, the Marjorie Stoneman Douglas bill in 2018 and we support legislation that would restore those rights of 18 to 20-year-old citizens.

    We oppose risk protection order statutes, also known as “red flag laws”, that violate the due process rights of law-abiding citizens. We oppose so-called “assault weapons” bans. We oppose gun registration and buy-back proposals. We oppose legislation requiring transfers of firearms, when neither party is a licensed dealer, to be conducted and processed by a licensed dealer.
